Identification and Prioritization of Clinical Decision Support Functionalities Built Within A Computerized Provider Order Entry System

Background: Clinical decision support (CDS) functionalities in Computerized Provider Order Entry system (CPOE) need to be identified by the institutional healthcare providers developing countries. In this regard, CDS should a priority for execution CPOE. Objectives: Thus, our study was done identify and prioritize Methods: A Two-round Modified Delphi process used. Firstly, systematic search conducted electronic databases from date of database inception February 2019 identifying integrated into Studies were retrieved databases, including PubMed, Embase, ProQuest, Scopus, Web Science, Cochrane, Science Direct, ACM digital library, IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Secondly, method carried out provide contextual priorities regarding CPOE two iterative rounds. total 12 experts working three Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with more than years experience homegrown Shiraz Nemazee Teaching Hospital, clinical pharmacists, health information management faculty member, four cases critical care fellowship, participated study. The ≥ 66.6% agreement considered as consensus level. SPSS software version 24 used statistical analysis. Results: Totally, 327 studies, which met eligibility criteria found. number 60 potential eligible studies. Also, 13 reached high after 2 rounds, drug-allergy checking (83.3%), basic dosing guidance (75%), single (66.7%), duplicate therapy drug-pregnancy alerts time-based alert deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis medication order drug-drug interaction intelligent based on patients’ characteristics renal-drug problems drug-disease displaying medication/test cost (75%). Conclusions: Our high-priority viewpoint multidisciplinary experts, especially Iran. Results may beneficial plan, design, implement ICU.
